Here's what you'll be doing on the day of the Comprehensive Course.
session 1 | Section 1: Critical Thinking |
10am – 12:30am (uk time)
In this morning session, we will cover Critical Thinking in depth. Students will be introduced to the structure and expectations of the TARA Admissions Test, followed by a detailed breakdown of the critical thinking skills assessed. We will work through key concepts such as identifying assumptions, evaluating arguments, recognising flaws in reasoning, and drawing logical conclusions,.
session 2 | LUNCH | 12:30PM - 1:30PM (uk time)
Time for a lunch break after an intensive morning of learning!
session 3 | Section 2: Problem Solving Part I |
1:30pm - 3:00pm (uk time)
This session introduces Module 2: Problem Solving, focusing on Part 1 skills. We will cover structured approaches to unfamiliar problems, interpreting data and scenarios, and selecting efficient solution strategies with some practise breaking down multi-step problems.
session 4 | 3:00PM - 3:15PM (uk time)
After another brain-tingling session, it's time for a quick break to recharge!
session 5 | Section 3: Problem Solving Part II & Writing Task
3:15pm – 5:30pm (uk time)
In this extended session, we will complete Problem Solving, tackling higher-difficulty questions and refining exam techniques. The session then transitions into Writing Task, where students will learn how to plan, structure, and develop a clear, well-argued response. We will focus on argument coherence, clarity of expression, and common pitfalls.
session 6 | Debrief & Q&A | 5:30PM - 6:00PM (uk time)
Here is when you can ask any questions you have built up over the day (although you can ask questions if and when you think of them through the rest of the course!). Your expert tutor will be available until 6PM so you can pick their brains for last-minute tips and advice.
Here's what you'll be doing on the day of the Booster Course.
session 1 | Critical Thinking & Probelm Solving | 10:00am – 11:30am (uk time)
During the first part of the course, students will work through exam-style practice questions from Module 1: Critical Thinking and the foundational elements of Module 2: Problem Solving. The focus will be on analysing arguments, identifying assumptions and flaws, drawing valid conclusions, and applying structured reasoning techniques to unfamiliar scenarios under timed conditions.
session 2 | Lunch | 11:30AM - 12:00PM (uk time)
Time for a short lunch break after an intensive practice session.
session 3 | Problem Solving & Writing Task | 12:00PM - 2:30PM (uk time)
This session is dedicated to high-intensity practice across Module 2: Problem Solving and Module 3: Writing Task. Students will tackle more challenging problem-solving questions, refine their approach to multi-step scenarios, and practise planning and structuring concise, well-argued written responses. Emphasis is placed on timing, clarity, and meeting assessment criteria.
session 4 | Advanced Maths & Physics | 2:30pm - 3:00pm (uk time)
Here is when you can ask any questions you have built up over the day (although you can ask questions if and when you think of them through the rest of the course!).
