Here's the course schedule:

The schedule below shows you how the day will run. You will either have your mock interviews at 9:40 AM or 12:15 PM, depending on which group you’re in. You’ll be with a group of students applying for the same (or similar) subjects. The tutorials will all be tailored to your course.

All students – 9:00 AM

We don’t like to waste time giving generic and boring talks so we’ll dive right in!

You’ll get a short talk with a Senior Admissions Tutor on what interviewers are looking for as well as how to get the most from today (trust us, you’ll want your cameras on for the day to get your money’s worth!). We’ll give you a short summary of how the mock interviews during the day will work and then reinforce the key message – Oxbridge interviews aren’t a test of knowledge but instead test application of knowledge.

No, you won’t need to know the periodic table off by heart or have read all of Shakespeare. But yes, you will need to be able to engage with your interviewers in solving multi-step problems or interpreting texts.

Group 1 – 12:15 PM

Group 2 – 9:40 AM

Students will work in their subject-specific groups to practise the types of questions most relevant to their interviews.

  • Humanities students will tackle argumentation-based questions, developing the ability to present, defend and structure their reasoning.
  • Science students will work through calculation and estimation problems, practising logical, step-by-step approaches and rational assumptions.
  • Medicine applicants are divided by Oxbridge and Non-Oxbridge, where Oxbridge candidates will face typical Oxbridge medical questions, ethical dilemmas and situational-judgement scenarios, while non-Oxbridge candidates focus on medical ethics and situational-judgement tasks tailored to their interviews.

In each mock interview, students will have time to listen to the question, respond under realistic conditions, and receive both written and verbal feedback to refine their performance and build confidence.

All students – 5:00 PM

The day concludes with a dedicated Q&A session where students can clarify any remaining doubts, revisit challenging topics, and discuss insights from their tutorials and mock interviews. This is an opportunity to ask specific questions, receive personalised guidance from tutors, and consolidate everything you’ve practised throughout the day. By the end of the session, students leave with a clearer understanding of their strengths, areas to focus on, and practical strategies to apply in their upcoming interviews.

Group 1 – 9:40 AM

Group 2 – 12:15 PM

In this session students will be split into subject groups to practise key interview skills relevant to their discipline — from advancing arguments in humanities, to handling unfamiliar material, to tackling calculations and estimations in sciences, to common interview questions, medical ethics & situation judgement in medicine — with tailored exercises and tutor feedback.

Students will split into subject groups to practise the interview skills most relevant to them:

  • Humanities – Advancing Arguments: Learn how to present, substantiate and defend arguments on questions with no single “right” answer. Tutors will play devil’s advocate as you debate topics such as ethics, politics or culture to practise structuring logical, well-reasoned responses.
  • Sciences – Calculations & Estimations:
Build a system for approaching common interview problems like “How much does the Earth weigh?” or “How many litres of water are there in the world?” You’ll practise using standard form, rational assumptions and clear step-by-step reasoning to reach sensible answers under pressure.
  • All Subjects – Dealing with Unfamiliar Material:
Work through texts, graphs, images or models you haven’t seen before to develop a framework for analysing new information. You’ll learn to identify key features, trends and ideas quickly and present your thinking in a structured way.
  • Medicine – Common Questions, Medical Ethics & Situational Judgement:Practise tackling typical medical interview questions alongside ethical dilemmas and situational-judgement style scenarios.
You’ll refine how you structure answers, show empathy and communicate clinical reasoning, so you can handle real-life medical interview situations with confidence.
All students – 3:00 PM In this session, students will work in subject-specific groups to deepen their knowledge and tackle challenging, interview-style questions.
  • Subject-based tutorials are designed to increase your breadth and depth of knowledge so that you have a wider portfolio of things to discuss at your interview. This is your opportunity to learn a topic at a much greater level than all other applicants. The exact topic will vary depending on your subject but it will be structured and operate like a ‘Cambridge supervision’ or Oxford Tutorial’ – exactly what your real interviews will be like.
  • Alongside this, all students will practise Dealing With Tricky Questions, working through 6–10 obscure or thought-provoking questions directly related to their field, such as “How do we know the moon isn’t made of cheese?” or “How is DNA like sheet music?“ You’ll learn common pitfalls, develop strategies to approach unfamiliar problems, and have the chance to challenge your tutor with your own ideas.
  • Students applying to Medicine will take part in an MMI Workshop, tailored for both Oxbridge and non-Oxbridge applicants. They’ll experience the Multiple Mini Interview format used by most medical schools, rotating through short stations that test skills such as ethical reasoning, problem-solving, and communication, whilst receiving structured feedback on how to approach and organise their answers under time pressure.

By the end of the session, you’ll gain both a richer subject understanding and practical techniques for confidently navigating unpredictable interview questions.

The course is tailored to your subject choice.

This course runs with multiple subjects simultaneously. This means that you will be split into subject groups at the beginning of the course, and you will stay with your group for the rest of the day. All your tutorials are in your small groups throughout the day.

You’ll get a subject-specific tutorial from an expert tutor who studies your subject, then you’ll go into mock interviews with two different tutors.

No generic information. No irrelevant tips. Just the information and practice you need to get your place at university.

Got some questions you’d like answered?

You’ll need a copy of your personal statement, and the ability to take notes. Apart from that, make sure you review your personal statement in advance and have a big breakfast (you’ll need it).

It takes us a lot of time to organise tutorial group leaders and mock interviewers that are directly relevant to your subject. If you let us know at least 5 days before the course, we’ll issue you a full refund but after this point, we can’t issue any refunds.

This really depends on your subject. We cap the group sizes to eight students. You’ll be in a group with students that are applying to the same subject or similar subjects to you. So you won’t find a maths and English student together but may find an Engineering and Physics student in the same group. We try to make the groups as small as possible and subject specific as possible so you get the most from the day.

Yes you do and this isn’t negotiable. You won’t be able to do your real interviews without a camera on so it’s vital that you have it enabled throughout the course duration. If not, we may ask you to leave until you can fix it. Sorry! But it’s for your own good, we promise!

If you need any help or have any other questions about the course, drop us a line at t[email protected] or give us a call on 07868 787726.

Our friendly team will get back to you as soon as possible.
